My daily school run takes me through this beautiful space where the aspen leaves in autumn turn starkly black and yellow.
This piece uses a range of different wools and vintage embroidery thread, and the Tunisian style of crochet to create a colourscape of a bright autumnal aspen leaf in my local park.
The landscape is sewn onto acid free paper with the hook acting as a hanging rod, signed and framed. The frame is a box frame made from wood and stained grey. I have chosen to use acrylic rather than glass in the frame to lessen the weight and likelihood of damage when posting. Acrylic scratches more easily than glass and therefore I recommend using a dry soft cloth for gentle dusting.
Frame size: 43cm x 43cm x 3cm deep
Whilst in between visits to the sea, my local park keeps me going. I work on the idea that the twigs reveal their 'memory' as I use them to recreate colour-scapes of where they were found.
