I wanted to capture the ballerina prior to a performance when she has the moment of stillness and calm. Eyes closed, meditative, and stretching, almost like a yoga position.... whilst also capturing the light fabric of the dress surrounding her. Using a pastel palette and iridescent interference acrylics to depict the intricate layers of the material of the dress, against the hard structure of the bodice, this painting reflects calm, silence and beauty... I hope!
