This elegant green glass vase started life as a cordial bottle, did you guess? Most people don't!
I took advantage of the unusual tapering shape of the bottle by cutting the top off at an angle before polishing the edges until smooth. Then I sandblasted the bottle creating a design of long waving blades of grass with a butterfly hiding amongst them.
This eco-friendly upcycled vase is around 19cm (7.5") tall and 8cm (3") across the base. The frosted finish is permanent and has been sealed to resist fingermarks; I recommend gentle handwashing only to retain this finish.
When I started to work with glass I collected bottles to experiment with. Some were far too good a shape and colour to melt down and so my upcycled bottle vases were born. Nowadays I am far more interested in the shape and colour of any bottle that comes into the house than the contents...
