A handmade fresh green jute and silk crossbody bag made on the Suffolk coast.

The longer handle is designed so that the bag sits about hip height; there are also two 'grab' handles.

The bag features an oak button closure, and a removeable handbag charm made from fine embroidery threads and 5 small delicate spiral seashells foraged from Suffolk beaches.

Jute is strong and will not stretch, the handles will therefore keep their shape and will not distort with use. I've also used Silk, which gives the bag a fine and soft feel and texture. The bag is not lined, but is not 'holey' as I use a fairly tight tension and smaller hooks.

Jute is a natural plant fibre, it is important to me my products are cruelty-free. It's made in England using materials manufactured in the UK and Europe. I am passionate about slow, simple living and am anti fast-fashion, and am proud to contribute something that looks pretty while not damaging wildlife, exploiting people abroad or racking up air miles!

Measurements (approx):
24 cm (w) x 18 cm (h) x 9 cm (depth). Long handle is 110 cm (55 cm drop). Grab handles are 5 cm drop.

The bag incorporates some irregularities in texture consistent with natural-based materials - these add to it's unique charm! The shells are also quite fragile, as to be expected. Colour may vary to the pictures due to variations in screen displays, etc.

I usually work in a colour palette of neutrals or muted shades, but this bag is inspired by Nature's greens.

I've decorated it with a cluster of delicate sea shells, which are beautiful little objects in their own right, with their perfect spiral formation and pearlescent nacre.

Being immersed in so much lovely unspoilt Nature inspires my use of natural materials and a respect for the earth and old fashioned slow living.

This bag was made slowly, with much attention to detail and care, My intention is to contribute long-lasting, crafted by hand, slow-made, pretty items to the world as an antidote to today's fast, machine-made retail industry and a nod to a more gentle authentic past :-D
