Droplets and Ripples at Salford Quays - 1 of 4 - Photographic Image on Large Square Canvas
This image is of droplets and ripples beneath The Detroit Bridge at Dock 9 Salford Quays, Manchester, near Media City UK the home for the BBC Sport and Children's' television. Taken just after the rain, when the water was falling from the underside of the bridge.
I love the way there is more than one crown inside the ripple formation. Not easy to see in the images here, but you can also see where some of the droplets have bounced up and are falling again. This would make a cool conversation piece hanging in a café, an office, your dining room, lounge or den.
The canvas image measures 80cm x 80cm x 2cm deep.
This image has 3 partner images, which would make a nice set for a group display or in a large space like a cafe or office.
While on a weeklong Art Therapy course at The Lowry Centre, I paid to park in someone’s drive and took the fifteen-minute walk alongside the rush hour traffic. Part of my journey was along the water’s edge of Pier 8, Salford Quays. After the noise and bustle of the motorway and city centre roads, it was such bliss to enter the quays. I never thought it could be so peaceful in a city centre before.
The water was still and the reflections so bright, that I reached for my mobile. I have always carried a camera in my bag, ready to capture an unexpected shot. Since the advent of smart phones, I have been able to take much better quality photographs.
The next day, the weather had changed. It had been raining, the wind had picked up and all the distant reflections had disappeared. However, while I was passing under a bridge, I noticed the water dropping off the bridge into the quay, making those lovely concentric circles we all love to watch.
Hope you enjoy my photographs
