This beautiful, softly coloured bowl is cosy and light to hold and has a lovely gentle shimmer. It will look good just on its own, but also makes an ideal vessel in which to keep dried flowers or gathered nature finds such as pine cones, feathers or shells. As it won’t scratch the surface underneath it can be put to great practical use holding keys and loose change in the hall, jewellery, or paperclips and rubber bands on your office desk.

It has been made by carefully laying out several fine layers of wool fibres over a flat template. There is a deeper grey on the inside and I have added some wisps of seacell fibres on the paler grey surface to catch the light. (Seacell is a sustainable silk-like fibre made from seaweed.) The bowl has been thoroughly felted and worked by hand after the template has been removed until it has been transformed into its organic, rounded shape. Instead of being a perfect circle like a thrown pot it has a gently undulating outline and surface.

The bowl measures 14 cm across and is 5.5 cm deep, with an opening of 7 cm (measurements are approximate). It will be carefully wrapped and sent by Royal Mail First Class Recorded Delivery which will require a signature when it arrives. I have loved making and shaping it.

Please be aware that screen monitor colours can vary, and that I work in a smoke free home but do have very enthusiastic cat help from time to time!

I am so fortunate to have expansive views of the sky from the windows at the back of our home, and spend quite a lot of time gazing at the changing moods outside. Often I have Leo our black cat for company beside me although he's more interested in watching the birds!
It's always lovely to see wisps of brighter white clouds drifting over any greyer ones and the way shafts of sunlight illuminate the edges making them gleam.
