I love being at the seaside, the more empty and out of season the better. And a walk along the strand on my birthday resulted in another small collection of pebbles and feathers... So many collections of pebbles and bits gleaned from the foreshore - how to use them?!
I chose to record this walk in a book of images and text.
I’ve often felt that the landscape of the seashore and shifting channels is constantly in flux, and this is a metaphor I use in my poetry to capture the sense of vacancy, that as a poet, I’ve always felt there.
