Item details

The owls were bearing the farm away depicts two barn owls using their talons to hoist a house across the night sky. This greeting card is a printed copy of a hand painted linocut. The colours are bright, the owls are white speckled in oranges and the sky is a deep blue with stars and a full moon. The inside of the card is left blank for your own message.

The envelop and card are made from 100% recycled paper and card and the protective
bag is compostable.

Proseprints is keen to be green, our printed greeting cards are on recycled paper, with bio-degradable cellos, we use paper based packaging and are introducing non-plastic packaging for protecting artwork. We also support a local conservation charity, donating money from the sales of our cards and artwork.

The image was inspired by a poem by Dylan Thomas (1914 to 1953) - ‘Fern Hill’ where the poet remembers the freedom of childhood holidays at his Aunt’s farm; the joy of play and close connections to nature. In the poem he talks about how as he rode to sleep the owls were bearing the farm away.
We have linked up with a local environmental charity - Torrington Commons Conservators - and donate 25p from the sale of every card.
