Beautifully dark and gothic, my hand printed lino print 'The Queen' is inspired by my love of medieval imagery, tarot card art and tattoo designs. This Queen symbolises all that is transitory in life, and while death is a major feature of this piece, it also reminds us to enjoy our lives and celebrate each day that we have.

This design has been printed using oil based Cranfield Caligo ink on Hosho hand-made Japanese paper. Each print is unique, with small variations due to the inking and printing process. Each print is signed and numbered and part of an original edition of 40.

This print is 14" x 11" and comes in a 14"x11" matte black mount with a protective backing board and sealed in a protective clear plastic wallet.

In the UK all prints are sent second class recorded, and overseas they are sent standard delivery.

This design was born from my passion for medieval art and the symbolism of death. During the medieval period the figure of death became an important feature in literature and art, and it's purpose was to remind the audience that earthly possessions and power were fleeting and that death was the ultimate leveler of mankind. This message was not meant to be dark or depressing - it was meant to inspire people to be better, to care for their soul and to care for others rather than obsess over their material goods. An important lesson still today!
