Owl stoneware lidded jar thrown all-in-one and hand sculpted to form this curious owl. Glazed by hand in shades of brown with dark grey beak and orange and black eyes. Internally glazed in a gorgeous down drifted brown. This owl is 11 cm high.

This is the third owl jar I have made, and I am always pleasantly surprised at how differently each one turns out. After my usual research on likely looking owls on the internet, I chose this face style for a change and was very pleased at how expressive he is. Each clay feather was applied individually and the sides, back, tail and wing feathers were formed in my hands one at a time before being fixed onto the pot body. I could feel him watching me all the while I was applying the glazes to him. The brown glazes accentuate the feather markings beautifully.
