Item details

Welcome! This is a very new shop and I'll be adding lots of other items soon. Look out for more hip bags, hip pouches, bags, hats, aprons, coin pouches, tote bags and shoulder bags. All made from recycled, salvaged or found materials.

This cotton canvas started out as a large mess-style tent, obtained by a local heritage organisation for a cliff-top WW1 re-enactment event. When it got ruined in a Cornish storm I was at first horrified by the damage and waste. One tent was repairable, but I was given this one which was a write-off. It didn't take me long to realise that the heavy cotton, enhanced by its sejourn in a muddy field, was ideal for making rustic and robust items of practical use. I wanted to keep the designs simple, to tie in with the history of the canvas and of the area. WW1 and Cornish mining.

The size and shape were chosen to be practical for an every-day bag used for slinging in all you need to take with you for the day. It's great for library books as well.

I use this fabric for sturdy aprons, duffle bags and hats too.
