Always inspired by wildlife particularly birds - I "saw" the crow in this the moment I set eyes on the piece of wood.
People underestimate the Corvids both in their dark beauty and intelligence. Several years ago we were transfixed by one "fishing" on the rocks below our cottage - first dislodging a mussel from its colony then flying about 20 yards high before releasing it to break on the rocks below; and doing this repeatedly until the shell smashed and the crow was able to feast.
It repeated the exercise until sated
