I have designed this 'patchwork' to showcase some really lovely vintage French and English cotton prints, which I have put with some of my own hand-dyed plains in toning shades.

Onto the plains I have stitched applique hearts; there are also four tiny applique robins, cut from my own dyed cottons. Each of the tiny fabric squares is hand-stitched into place with twelve stitches, and the whole design is set within a running stitch grid worked in hand-dyed varigated threads.

The frame is lightly distressed whitened wood measuring 8"/20cms square, the title: 'Little Robin 'Patchwork' - vintage fabrics' is written on the mount and it is signed. The work will arrive glazed, corded, ready to hang, with my studio stamp on the back.

I always pack my embroideries with great care and I will include a little white card with double-sided tape in place for you to affix to the back of the picture, so you can add a personal gift message should you wish to do so.

Collectors of my work know that I love robins! I have a tame one here called 'Scruff' as he looks so dreadful every year at moulting time! He has been with us for years and has a family of baby robins every year with his partner; they nest in our log store. Robins are not just for Christmas! I also love collecting vintage cotton prints, slightly faded with age, and in a palette of colours not seen since modern dyes came on the scene.
