Item details

This acrylic canvas hip bag is made from fabric left over from shade sails and boat covers. It measures approximately 20cm wide, 21 cm high and 5cm deep. The strap is attached in such a way that you can reach your hand inside even while wearing the bag. There's an elasticated draw-string closure inside the top.

It has a main compartment with an inner pocket. The pocket on the back is suitable for a small notebook. The 2 external side pockets are designed for pens and penknives. On the front is a zipped pocket and an easy access pocket - most smart phones will fit in either. Pocket linings are cut from salvaged fabric e.g burnt out tent found in a car park.

The strap is made from new webbing and the buckle is attached so that the bag is worn on the right hip. This keeps it out of the way while driving in the UK.

Welcome! This is a very new shop and I'll be adding lots of other items soon. Look out for more hip bags, hip pouches, bags, hats, aprons, coin pouches, tote bags and shoulder bags. All made from recycled, salvaged or found materials.

I work part time as a countryside ranger for a conservation charity and needed something to keep my personal items safe, and attached to me, while I worked on practical outdoor tasks. When my original hip bag (made from the salvaged pockets from a waxed coat) bit the dust I designed the prototype of this best-seller. I'm still pleased with the way it works for me - I keep my phones ( work and personal), wallet, pens, dog poo bags ( not mine!), shee wee, resuscitation aid, and lip balm in mine. These bags have been purchased by a cyclist, a farmer, dog walkers, overlanders and all sorts of other marine-y, country, towny, outdoorsy people. I absolutely love preparing the pieces and deciding which colours to use for each bag. (I make muted colours now after being asked for them in the street by a Cornish Pirate).
