Item details

This sturdy bucket bag measures 35cm high and 28cm diameter. The fabric is salvaged 'top gun', which is usually used for marine purposes such as boat covers and spray hoods. It's moisture resistant and can be wiped clean.
The bucket has a wooden base 9 mm thick, cut from scrap, and the top is reinforced with re-used marine plastic found on the strandline in West Cornwall.
The handle is made from reclaimed natural fibre rope, and attached with traditional splicing and whipping.
The decorative leather trimmings are made from remnants gleaned from a local workshop floor.

Welcome! This is a very new shop and I'll be adding lots of other items soon. Look out for more hip bags, hip pouches, bags, hats, aprons, coin pouches, tote bags and shoulder bags. All made from recycled, salvaged or found materials.

I've always been enthralled by containers and love to make use of salvaged and found materials that come my way to make something useful. The scraps from the local sail loft - being marine grade fabric - lend themselves to nautical looking buckets and bags. I love to use the skills I picked up from my nautical Dad who enjoyed teaching us knots and splices when we were little.
I'm always keen to make things out of 'nothing' and this bucket bag is almost completey made from discards - only the whipping and the sewing thread are new. Even the screws came from Dad's stash!
