Item details
My home town Matlock came from "Moot Oak", site of an ancient tree where different tribes came to meet, located at the point where three valleys join. The area represents a place where Welsh (Brythonic), Anglo-Saxon and Norse cultures mixed, and this influences my own shamanistic-druidic practice. I wanted to encapsulate this trinity within a divinatory tool, so created these runestones: symbols originating in Norse mythology, that influenced the stories of Anglo-Saxon cultures, depicted on Welsh stone.
I see divination as a tool for everyone, whatever your beliefs. Any divinatory system is a way of accessing our innate creativity, of looking within. We look for patterns in a chaotic system -- the thrown runes, the randomly picked cards, the flight of birds -- and then ask the deepest parts of our minds to give meaning to those patterns. As a tool for reflection, for personal insight, or for rekindling a creative spark that has become dim, I think the runes are one of the best.
