100% polyester handmade gradient yarn cake in “Close to Midnight”. This yarn has transitions from a light grey through to black.

It has 4 colours which change gradually throughout the cake. Having 5 strands the colour change has a more subtle gradient than with the usual 3 strands of many other cakes.

There are very small knots, but these are almost invisible once worked.

It is equivalent to a fingering weight – 2ply yarn and can be worked up using any pattern for similar weight yarn.

No two cakes will be absolutely identical, due to the nature of the production process.

I offer a choice of sizes of cakes small - 900m (approx 150g), or large - 1400m (approx 230g). Lengths are approximate as this is a handmade item and variations are inevitable. The weight will also vary depending on the colours used, as dyes have different weights.

Polyester yarn is soft, has a slight sheen and flows and drapes beautifully once worked up to your pattern. It is also hard wearing, and fade resistant. Unlike acrylic, polyester is also recyclable.

We also do a range of solid colours in 50g, 100g and 150g cakes which work very well when used with the gradient yarns to make larger items, especially clothing, where you may only want the colour change as an accent rather than the main body of the work.
