Lots of wildflower meadow pieces coming soon, as well as a new range of rainbows! Plenty of suncatchers which look stunning in the sunshine too, and of course (as always) feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
This gorgeously glossy piece of translucent fused glass art would look incredible on a windowsill with the sunlight shining behind, or on a shelf with a tealight or two behind to make the colours sparkle through. A mix of textures and colours makes these waves amazingly tactile, and the way the colours blend through from aquamarine to turquoise blue to emerald green with the white sea spray flicked loose from the waves is reminiscent of many a beach across the world.
Measuring about 26cm long and 12cm tall, this versatile piece would be an ideal gift for someone who loves natural images. It is freestanding so could be positioned on a windowsill, a shelf or a room divider. It will fit in a wide range of homes, looking equally stunning in a contemporary modern home with its shine and colour palette as it would in a casual beach hut style family living room.
Created by layering individually handcut pieces of different sea shades of glass, combined with a variety of colours and sizes of crushed and powdered glass, this piece will spend many hours in my digitally controlled kiln ensuring it is properly annealed, and so it is robust and durable, to be handed down to future generations to enjoy.
This piece will be made to order (so won't be identical to the photos) then carefully gift wrapped before being snuggled in a box with plenty of padding to ensure it reaches you safely.
I was inspired by videos of waves that a friend shares daily. Although Bristol is not a million miles from the sea, with three teens at home, one of whom has several complex medical conditions, I don't get to see much of it in person, and every time I see one of her videos it makes me take a deep breath and a few seconds for myself, as I see the water crashing on the shore and flowing back out. And isn't that what we all need - just a few seconds for ourselves? Making these glass versions of those waves gave me more time, with slivers of different colours and frothing seafoam... I think the tricky part for me might be stopping making them...!
