This bright and quirky piece of translucent fused glass art would look incredible on a windowsill with the sunlight shining behind, or on a shelf or table with a tealight or two behind to make the colours sparkle through. The array of colours combined with the medium of glass makes these hot air balloons amazingly tactile, and would be a great gift for anyone who has been lucky enough to see a nightglow at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.

Measuring about 45cm long and 12cm tall (you can see a 30cm ruler in the last photo), this piece is freestanding so could be positioned on a windowsill, a shelf or a room divider. This statement piece would be the perfect gift for someone who loves the city - maybe they visited on holiday, studied here, or live here still! It could be a housewarming gift for someone moving to Bristol or moving away, an engagement or wedding gift for a couple who spent (or plan to spend) time in Bristol together, or a thoughtful birthday gift for anyone who loves Bristol!

Each piece of balloon envelope was cut from a sheet of coloured glass, then carefully positioned on a clear base to create the image. This piece has spent many hours in my digitally controlled kiln ensuring it has been properly annealed, so it is robust and durable, to be handed down to future generations to enjoy.

I've lived in Bristol since I came here to go to university, and was lucky enough to explore the city and fall in love here, and have lived here ever since. There are hundreds of recognizable sights and views, and brightly coloured hot air balloons are one of those, so I decided to try and represent them in glass (like I do with everything that I love!).
