This Japanese inspired hand embroidered wall hanging measures 43”x9” and is the centre piece in a room due to its bright red and deep black colour scheme. Each of the 5 calico panels depicts a silhouette of all things Japanese from bonsai trees to cherry blossom and even Mount Fuji itself. The symbolic red sun sets each of the scenes off and the wooden buttons and hanging rod are all hand painted black adding to the drama of the piece. This hanging will look well in any room in the house even the bathroom as it exudes serenity and peace which are qualities the Japanese people aspire to. Should you decided to purchase this piece it will come gift boxed and carefully wrapped in tissue paper.

I have long admired the discipline and workmanship of the Japanese artisans. They take great pride in conserving the crafts and skills of their ancestors and in some cases today’s artisans are 6th and 7th generation crafts people and the younger generations are adapting their skills to cater for modern society yet still producing pieces of quality. I was taught to sew and knit by my mother and grandmother and in turn I have taught my own daughter the same skills. And so this piece is an homage to keeping the crafts and skills of yore both alive and relevant to future generations. Please enjoy this piece and thank you for browsing my shop.
