Item details

Using this characterful native timber, we have fashioned several coat racks with shelfs above. This board is 910mm x 90mm. We have kept it as natural as possible with the live edge and polished oil finish. There are 6 solid hardwood contrasting pegs and there are two invisible fixing points on the back for ease of hanging. This board is fully polished, wrapped and ready for delivery to a UK address.

Sadly, due to the spread of Dutch Elm disease, English Elm has become increasingly difficult to source. We were extremely fortunate to secure a few logs from a local tree surgeon many years ago and set about milling and drying the timber. As it is more obscure, it is rarely asked for by the public who tend to stick to the familiar timber but occasionally we get to have a play. We were asked to make a few display shelfs for a blacksmiths shop and from that, another customer placed an order for a 3 metre long breakfast bar in live edge Elm. It inspired us to us this characterful, native timber to fashion some smaller items including these coat racks.
