I made this Christmas wall hanging in the Primitive style in light blue and yummy toffee coloured fabric and threads. I embroidered the words ‘Love came down at Christmas “ on it and it features a star within a heart. It measures 14”x16” and is fully backed in a contrasting fabric and is padded with wadding giving it a rich quilted feel. It has two hanging loops embroidered in blanket stitch and fastened with wooden buttons. The wooden hanging rod is included and is cut to size.
This piece will look lovely in a country or shaker style kitchen or in an entrance hall to welcome your Christmas guests. It would also sit well in a minimalist interior and the sentiment it bears sums up the true meaning of this wonderful time of year. I hope you enjoy having this piece as much as I enjoyed making it. My inspiration for this piece came when I lifted the centre piece of linen fabric which to me has a lovely rustic feel to it. I have for a long time now admired the Primitive stitcheries that are very popular in Canada and the USA and so decided to embroider in that style. Next came the fabric! I had bought these two coordinating blue and toffee coloured fabrics some time ago and they seemed to lend themselves to the primitive style so well.
