Item details

Hand knit in traditional way using 4 needles so there are no seams to irritate or add bulk. I have used a flecked Aran weight yarn in a blend of wool and acrylic for maximum warmth and wear. They're great for wearing in boots or wellies or simply around the house by men who don't like slippers. The textured panel across the top of the sock adds interest and also stops them sagging as often happens in hand knit socks. The foot measures 24cm but comfortably stretches to approx 30cm so will fit most shoe sizes. Machine wash on a gentle cycle.

In nautical terminology Port side on the boat is left and carries a red light, Starboard is right and carries green. Hence the red and green toes. My first pair of Port and Starboard socks were a happy accident a few years ago when I was knitting my husband some red boot socks and about to run out of yarn. Since then I've knit several pairs and they have always been well received as gifts
