This hand embroidered silk art was my most ambitious piece to date and took six months to complete. Stitched using a needlepainting technique with silk floss thread on a silk/cotton blend fabric the image measures 12cm x 10cm. It has been professionally stretched and mounted in a frame measuring 34cm x 32cm. Each stitch was made using size 12 embroidery needles and a magnifying lamp creating a truly unique piece of embroidered art.

I was inspired to stitch this picture after I took a chance photo in my garden. I had spotted a frog and snapped a couple of photos for reference not noticing the little woodlouse at the bottom right hand corner of the shot. Some people have said that the woodlouse looks scared but I like to think that he is giving the frog advice. I read a fact that if woodlice are stressed there is often one individual who will calm the other down. So I thought what if the woodlouse was actually a therapist to the other creatures in the garden? What if he holds therapy sessions down in the chamomile patch (know for its soothing powers)? So the quote I gave this picture is:

'"Everything will be alright in the end" said the calming woodlouse to the anxious frog'.
