The handknitted scarf has been made to my own original design using beautifully soft 4 ply Shetland Wool. The basket stitch pattern creates a reversible scarf which complements the basket stitch hat which is available as a separate item in this shop. There are two colour choices for the scarf - please chosse from the drop down list above. The grey scarf is 65 inches long and 5 inches wide. The off white scarf is 56 inches long and 5.5 inches wide.

The yarn used to make the scarves has been spun at the Natural Fibre Company in Cornwall using personally selected fleeces from pedigree Shetland sheep that graze on conservation grade land at a Wildlife Trust coastal site.

I have a quantity of beautiful Shetland wool made from the fleeces of pedigree sheep owned by the local wildlife trust. I wanted to create something to show off the wool to it's best advantage and I chose a Basket Stitch pattern because, historically, baskets were made in the village where the sheep are based.
