This soft flowing hand-dyed long silk scarf in shades of indigo has been created using a traditional Japanese shibori technique and indigo dye. The fabric is pure silk habotai and measures approx 150 x 40 cm.
Individually dyed and a unique design, no two scarves are the same.

The scarf can be gently handwashed in cool water and ironed while still damp to remove any creases.

I fold and clamp the material, dip it into the indigo dye vat, when it comes out the scarf is a shade of vivid green but then oxygen works its magic and the blue appears. Next I need patience to wait for the scarf to dry before unclamping - the design reveals itself, no two scarves are the same and I'm never sure exactly how they will turn out!
I live on the beautiful Hartland peninsula in North Devon, the endless sea and sky, with their different shades of blues inspire me to use natural dyes.
