Description

Small giclée print made in my own studio with Epson lightfast pigment inks on Epson Archival Matte paper, in a conservation grade soft white mount and backing board, presented in a hand-painted wooden frame with real glass, signed on the back and finished with hardboard and framing tape. With a strong wire, ready to hang.

This OOAK frame has been hand painted with multiple layers of Winsor & Newton Artist's Acrylic paint in shimmery iridescent white and various blues, then finished with Winsor & Newton Artist's Acrylic UV varnish to protect it.

The overall size of the frame is approx. 11" x 9" (280 mm x 230 mm.

The image window size is 6 3/4" x 4 3/4" (165mm x 114mm).

This print is reproduced by me from a scan of an original watercolour painting created in spring 2018, titled "Leaping Orca".

This image is also available in other sizes, with or without a frame, as a canvas print, a large poster, and a greetings card.

Reproduced from an original watercolour painting by Jenny Chapman, © 2018.

Inspiration

Living on a remote peninsula on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, we are surrounded by the sea on three sides. Although we cannot see orcas (more commonly known as killer whales) from the shore here, they are quite often seen in the deeper waters which surround the Hebridean islands close to us, and sometimes approach as close as the Isle of Mull. These spectacular creatures are actually the largest members of the dolphin family, and the way in which they leap out of the water is very similar to their smaller cousins.

The original painting from which this print is reproduced was created with Winsor and Newton professional watercolour paints and Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils on Fabriano Artistico HP watercolour paper.
