Handmade in England
Four hand silk-screen printed Giraffe Cards with little vintage fabric scarfs (2 yellow and 2 green). Matching grey envelopes included.
Each little card (7.5cm x 10.5cm) is an original print which I've silk-screen printed in multiple layers. The finer little touches are painted / attached on top once dried. The inside of the card is left blank.
I use the finest quality English papers (these little cards are lovely and thick - 350gsm).
I mix my own paint colours by hand in jam jars.
I use recycled brown paper / card and tape for my packaging which can be re-used or recycled.
What is screen printing?
Screen printing is one of the oldest methods of printmaking. The process involves creating a stencil of an image on a screen of porous mesh, traditionally made of silk. A squeegee is used to pull paint over the stencil, forcing it through the mesh onto the paper being printed. Unlike the paints/inks used in some other forms of printing, screen printing paint sits right on the surface of paper, resulting in incredibly rich, vibrant colour.
A little set of vintage cardboard cut-out shapes (wild animals) that I enjoyed drawing with as a small child.
