Item details

"Sobreiro" is a sleeveless paisley skater dress with a boat neckline. Its fitted bodice meets the big gathered skirt at the waistline, which is trimmed with a satin ribbon, and the flattering neckline swoops round to a rounded back. Simple yet elegant, ideal for a summer wedding, or for bringing some summery vintage flair to town!

The bodice is fully lined and with front and back darts, and the skirt is gathered at the waist. The dress has a concealed zip down the back. As with all my garments, this dress has in-seam pockets!

The Sobreiro's fabric is a medium weight polycotton with a fabulous blue paisley on white. This dress can be made in other fabrics too, please send me a message if you'd like it made in any of my other fabrics.

Skirt length is around 70cm from waist to hem, the skirt is designed to sit on the knee. The skirt can be made longer or shorter - please feel free to get in touch.

The Sobreiro is designed to be close fitting and flattering on top, the bodice sits on the waist and the skirt flares freely over the hips. Made from polycotton, it isn't stretchy, but I do try and make all my garments a comfortable fit.

10 - bust 88cm - waist 68cm
12 - bust 92cm - waist 72cm
14 - bust 97cm - waist 77cm

I love paisley, so couldn't help but buy this beautiful blue and white fabric. Despite it being a polycotton, unlike most of my handmade garments (which are 100% cotton), its weight and quality distracted me from it being a polycotton. As for the design, it takes inspiration from the big skirts of the 40s and 50s (which I think are incredible!), as well as the beautiful evening wear of the age in its flattering neckline.
