Medium sized stoneware Teapot, holds 4 cups and pours very well. Decorated with black slip with a clear glaze that gives a brilliant sheen to the striking contemporary design.

12.5 cm high, 16 cm max diameter, 25 cm from spout to handle, 800 ml capacity.

A pair of matching cups is also available to make a tea set, see 2nd photo

During firing a small amount of glaze touched the kiln shelf which has left a small chip on the base, which has been ground smooth (see last photo of the base). This minor blemish is not visible in use.

I have been selling my functional stoneware ceramics on Etsy for 3 years and have 245 sales and 72 five star reviews on Etsy > SmallFlamePottery. I'm keen to find new customers :)

I developed this design for a friend who wanted a teapot to match some slip decorated cups I had made; I made two and this is the spare!

The teapot, spout and lid were thrown on the wheel using stoneware clay. After trimming the spout was attached and an elegant strong handle pulled from wet clay and attached. After drying to leather hard the slip decoration was applied using masking of wet newspaper. Once bone dry it was bisque fired at 1000 C then dipped in clear glaze and fired in my self-built gas reduction kiln at 1240 C taking 16 hours to heat up and two days to slowly cool. The Celadon type glaze develops speckles as a result of small iron particles in the clay. The slip coated regions have a blue tint.
