Item details

This ring dish is made from a textured sanded terracotta. The feel and texture of the clay is perfect for these little dishes, I have also deliberately left all the thumb prints and imperfections in to add to the rustic charm of the piece. The feel and texture of the clay is perfect for these little dishes.

Each one is cut out and pressed into a mould to make the basic shape. I then cut and model a little factory and add this to the dish. After its first firing I then hand paint the glaze. I have chosen a creamy white base colour and a beautiful deep red to emphasise the roof.

This piece is based on Victorian factories that can be seen all over the country. Now these beautiful building are being converted into homes and places to visit, and are being recognised for the incredible structures that they are. This little dish is based on those places.
