Item details

A lovely disc pendant formed of four pieces of wood joined together...the top and bottom pieces are oak, followed by coconut and cherry in the middle.

The four woods are joined together and then shaped and hand finished to a smooth touch. All work is done in our workshop. The cherry is from woods local to where I live and has been split, shaped and smoothed from the tree trunk (which blew down in 2017). The golden brown of the cherry contrasts beautifully with the two shades of dark brown of the coconut and the light brown of the oak. Each wood has its own grain flows and structure to add further contrast.

The pendant is finished with a natural mineral oil that has no chemicals added.

It is hung with a 1mm wide black leather strap that has a drop of 325mm. We can supply an alternative colour strap and / or a longer length...brown or a few other colours......please ask for more detail if you wish.

Supplied in white tissue paper with a white gift packet.

(This item is hand made and cut / shaped by hand and eye so there are slight variances in diameter although to the naked eye the shape is round).

Working with hard woods, I had the idea to join the colours of different trees to create a disc of different hues. The disc is made from different brown woods and highlights the lovely variances that one can see. In turn each wood has its own different shade and flows of grain. I see it as a bit like Autumn and the lovely variant colours of the leaves on the trees.

Every piece I make is individual with some variation of size, shape or colour. This is a natural product. The colours of the woods are as nature formed. These are not flamboyant colours of nature but they combine beautifully.
