Tote bag, shopping bag, or book bag, made from vintage 1980s coordinating fabrics.
Here is a classic 1980’s piece of vintage furnishing fabric, designed in a country house style. To pay homage to the 1980’s I have used two coordinating fabrics from the same range! One side is mostly beige and peach, the other mostly blue.
This simple unlined bag is still a sturdy little number. It is made with strong French seams, and has a small internal pocket, so you will always know where your keys are.
It measures 32cm wide
It is 36cm long
The inside pocket measures 12cm by 12cm, and is edged with bias binding and finished with my own embroidered name tag.
There is a facing around the top edge to give it some body, and a neat finish.
There are two shoulder straps each measuring 63 cm long to fit snuggly over your shoulder, but short enough to use as a handheld bag if you prefer.
The bag will roll up tightly to fit into its own little wallet measuring 14cm by 20cm and will nestle neatly inside your handbag.
This bag can be hand washed, or put on a cool, short machine wash, and ironed when it is oh so slightly damp.
I like to reuse where possible. Your bag will arrive wrapped in clean, re-cycled packaging. It will be posted out by Royal Mail 2nd class with proof of sending, which takes up to 3 working days.
These pretty 1980s fabrics are a lovely quality, and were so country house furnishing in their day. I have mixed the two coordinating fabrics together in this shoulder bag, just as they were designed to do back in 1984, when, if you were the height of fashion, your curtains and duvet cover would have been made from matching coordinates!
