Item details

Length - approximately 52 cms from end to end. The thread is amber coloured silk bead cord, which is very strong. The findings are silver coloured.

I make these quirky & unusual necklaces by hand from melon seeds, which I carefully select & individually hand paint with coloured lacquer. I thread the seeds in groups, separated by knots, with a little spacing between each group.

The necklaces have a casual, artisan, beach look - the painted seeds are a bit like brightly coloured miniature surf boards or tiny tropical fish. The seeds have lovely characteristics, some with slight curves and twists. Individual seeds vary in size, with the largest around 1.5 cms long. This is all part of their charm & each necklace is unique. The necklaces are lightweight & easy to wear.

Continuing the seed theme, each necklace comes with a small brown “seed packet” style envelope on which I've block-printed my initials, leaving space to write a small message if the necklace is for a gift. Each necklace will be carefully wrapped to protect it in transit.

Note: Due to the small seeds the necklaces are not suitable for children.
