Suint washed to remove the majority of dirt but keep grease (lanolin) in the wool.
Packed in an upcycled fabric bag for ease of storage.
This fleece has been suint washed, a completely organic method of cleaning fleece that involves fermenting over a period of a couple of weeks. This process removes dirt and mud, but leaves the lanolin in the wool intact and has no effect on the quality of the fibre. The waste water is then rich in nutrients and can be used to naturally fertilise the vegetable beds on the farm. Are you interested in this process? Contact us to find out more.
Long wool breeds enjoy being shorn twice a year as this ensures they are not weighed down by damp, heavy fleece in the Mendip winter drizzle.
With the ability to leave a longer staple on the skin using Blade Shears, the lambs quickly coat themselves in lanolin and can easily shake off excess water whilst feasting 100% naturally on the Autumn flush of lush grasses. Therefore welfare is maintained to the highest standards and fleece addicts can enjoy THE most beautiful, soft pure white loose locks of wonderful wool.
