Robins are such friendly and fearless birds. I love the way they follow you around when you are gardening in the hope that you will unearth some tasty worms and grubs for them. Often perching very close to you, on your spade handle, as the one in this picture is doing or in hedgerows and bushes. The sound of their wings beating as they fly close to your ear is almost ethereal. They are one of the UK's most recognised and favourite birds and often associated with Christmas.
