We make our upcycled planters from recycled wine bottles. The bottle is cut and the upper half inverted to sit in the bottom part as you can see from the photos we take great care to ensure the edges of the glass are ground and polished so you wont have to worry about cutting your fingers. This allows a plant (great for herbs in the kitchen or house plants in the living room) to be placed in the upper part. The clever bit is how the watering takes place a length of jute string passes from the soil in the upper section through a cork and into the bottom part which is now used as a reservoir for water. Through capillary action the string acts as a wick and draws the water into the upper part and waters the plant as is needed. We have included examples of plants in our planters for you to see but we will be sending you an empty specimen for you to fill with whatever you like as unfortunately the postman is rarely plant friendly.
