Edwardian cabinet has been fully prepped and restored. Painted in Fusion Mineral Paint Coal Black, Bronze and Copper. Used technique for dabbing off paint with newspaper to get dapple look with the copper over the bronze and black. Decoupaged inside with 1964 newspaper of Sir Winston Churchill. Handles are scrubbed up rustic nuts and bolts attached on with copper brackets. Also added to sides for decorative feature. Glass was replaced with black mesh to give industrial, steampunk feel and is effective as gives contrast to the traditional design, especially when the lights are on. Added industrial ceramic light fittings and retro light bulbs with quirky elements. (PAT tested). Legs painted black on outside with copper feet and copper on inside then black feet, to add a quirky twist.
This is a recycled piece of furniture that is in good condition but it has had a previous life, so small signs of wear and tear, which adds to its character.

This piece had been sitting in the sellers garage for years and had broken glass, and was damaged, yet it still had such an air of charm that I couldn't resist. It is so traditional but I wanted to give it a quirky, modern twist. I wanted the inside to be a feature as well as the outside, so thought of decoupaging with newspaper and to keep on trend ordered vintage 1964 - voila it was a tribute to Sir Winston Churchill so knew that had to be the theme to keep the grandeur feel. Yet by adding the rustic nuts and bolts as handles, black metal mesh to replace windows this gives it the on-trend flavor. The light fittings we thought would add appeal as well especially with the quirky bulbs. We hope you like it as much as we do.
