Lovely spalted sycamore bowl with beautiful swirling grain figuring and with a sycamore tree image pyrographed into its centre. It measures 152 mm in diameter and is 52 mm tall and the image is approx 45mm tall, after being sanded smooth it has been finished with beeswax to a high shine.
Pyrography is litererally “fire writing and drawing ”done by my wife, with a hot wire pyrography machine, which allows subtle shading.
It struck me that it might be nice to turn a bowl and then put an image of the type of tree the wood was from into its centre and I asked my wife who does all the pyrography if she could do this and the result you see here. I may be trying to do the same with other english woods in due course. Having sold our first effort quickly I decided to do another.!
