Plague Doctor Cushion Cover and Free Cushion Pad Insert
The cushion cover design has been printed onto high quality fabric and the is backed with a super soft neutral warm dark grey tone fabric and the edges of the cover have been finished with black piping. The cushion / pillow cover has also been filled with a polyester pad.

PLEASE NOTE - All of our cushions include a FREE polyester cushion pad. Once the cushion covers are made they filled with the cushion pad and packaged ready for dispatch. As we wish to send them out as a complete product. Therefore, we are unable to dispatch the cushion covers without the free cushion pad.

This original cushion / pillow cover design features the plague doctor who was a medical physician that treated victims of the plague. They were specifically hired by towns that had many plague victims in times of epidemics. In the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the miasma tic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection.
