Zangla Palace is three-storey ruin of a 17th-century royal palace that sits on a crag with spectacular views across the Zanskar valley. From 1823 the Hungarian scholar Sandor Csoma de Koros took a room here while compiling the first Western dictionary of Tibetan. Then for nearly two centuries the palace was forgotten, until 2008 when restored by a Hungarian organisation inspired by the connection to the scholar.

The photograph is printed on super high gloss Canon Photo Paper Pro for a superb crisp image.

In 2015 I was fortunate enough to spend three weeks traveling in Ladakh and the Himalayas. The scenery in this part of India is out of this world and the people are so welcoming.

When I visited Zanskar, Zangla Palace was on my list of places to visit. It is located a good half days drive from Padum, the capital of Zanskar, but is well worth the visit. Located on a remote stony crag overlooking the village of Zangla, the imposing ruins, command spectacular views across the Zanskar Valley.
