I used to love looking at the minute detail in children's books by Martin Handford and Anthony Browne, so I wanted to create an illustration that isequally absorbing. I'd always wanted to create a huge illustration of Salt's Mill, where every window is occupied by a famous Yorkshire person. It ended up being 219 hand drawn characters, but still a mere fraction of the great figures produced by this county!
