This small light-brown bowl was hand carved without the use of a lathe and is paired with a contrasting dark red-brown sapele wooden spoon. These bowls are great for chutney, salt, jam, dips, butter etc. or even as a ring dish, without the spoon.

The bowls were hand carved on the bench using gouges and chisels to shape them before being sanded to a fine grade and finished with a few coats of food grade mineral oil to protect the wood and bring out the grain.

The bowls are 6cm across and 2cm high. The spoon is 7cm long.

If you would prefer a matching beech spoon I have one available, just message me when you put your order in. Equally, if you don't need the spoon and just want the bowl the same applies.

When I had leared how to make my wee salt spoons I wanted to make a matching bowl. I also wanted to make my incense holders deeper and wider, so I obtained a set of gouges, learned their use on the incense holders and then came back to the round bowls to go with the spoons.

After a bit of trial and error I settled on the size of bowl I wanted - something to suit small culinary needs. I then carved some spoons specifically suited to the size of the small bowl.
