I am a retired IFA whose hobby is to make things out of wood on my lathe, all sales proceeds are distributed to a number of different cancer based charities.

I didn't think Leylandii was a very good wood for turning, I was wrong, the natural faults in the wood where branches intersected with the trunk make for a very decorative item. Naturally its first function is to show off dried flowers, but as a stand alone item it has a real presence and as it is ostensibly a very common wood, generally rejected by most wood turners quite rare.
However all my pieces are one offs, no duplicates, if you own one, no one else does, maybe when I die, they may become very valuable (As if!)
A lot of time was spent to get the desired smooth finish and it is finished in beeswax
