I made the original one for my partner on valentines day in 1990. I wanted something that expressed how I felt about her but all the cards I looked at just seemed a bit cheesy so back to my wood workshop to think it over.
I was working on restoring an old Arts and Crafts hall stand that happened to have heart shaped cut outs in it and thought they would look nice in a card made from wood. A plank of wood, a hinge, some wax and 30 minutes later I was holding the first ever Welsh Book of Love. Two hearts , one on each page , that fit together as one. No words needed to say " I Love you ".. Glad to say it still sits on the mantle piece nearly 30 years later. !
