When trying all sorts of things to encourage my son to wear a scarf, I came up with Draggle (a combination of dragon and cuddle). An instant success; the difficulty became taking the scarf off, not putting it on!
An obvious next choice for a scarf friend was a snake, thus 'Snaggle' was born, and I have ideas for many more variations, which will materialise in the near future.
