A unique handmade piece of art, sewn from discarded papers, with free UK ' First Class Signed For' delivery.
It is not a print or copy, it is the original piece, making it a one-off. Not another the same.
Made using a Barbican leaflet (Boom For Real, photograph by Edo Bertoglio) showing the artist Jean Michel Basquiat.
I hand-stitched Jean to a page from A Concise History Of Modern Painting by Herbert Read, published by Thames And Hudson, 30 Bloomsbury Street, London WC1, in 1964. It was retired from Lambeth Libraries, where I bought it in a sorry state.
The biscuit comes from a Co-op food advert.
The Amazonian basket is used by women to carry bitter cassava, to make bread. Taken from Artefactos by Liliana Villegas and Benjamin Villegas. The photograph was taken by José Fernando Machado, Jorge Eduardo Arango, Diego Sampler or Diego Miguel Garcé. It is unclear which.
The thread is silk and once belonged to my Nana.
It measures 15 x 21cms, and comes unframed.
The materials I use have blemishes, due to their age and previous use.
