I made this jacket after i had the idea to upcycle clothes in a way that tells the story of what the materials used to be. i have bags and bags of fabric pieces and old garments that i didn't know what to do with them, but didn't want to throw them away. I also had people donating clothes that they no longer had use for. There are many reasons people get rid of their clothes, and using kintsugi to upcycle them felt like a good idea as a way to hold on to the history of the materials, accept and learn to love them as it's part of the big picture. I like to apply this philosophy to life, as it's those good and bad experiences and journeys that really make us individual. I really enjoy applying this idea to garments as everything i end up making has its own identity and look.
