A gift for an animal lover at Christmas, it depicts a fox on a snowy night outside the Art Deco Town Hall near where I live in North London. I used a 'rainbow roll' - I covered a large roller with dark blue ink (for the sky) which blended into a purple/magenta ink. I then transferred the ink to the carved lino block and printed the image onto creamy-white Fabriano, a high quality paper. The print is 18.5cm x 18.5cm, with a creamy white border. Each print varies slightly, as does the width of the border. I made only six of this print.

Each print is protected by being backed by a sturdy piece of mountboard, and by an acid-free cellophane wrap.

The print has a companion piece, two reindeer outside the Town Hall.I adapted both images for use as Christmas cards. All are available on this site.

Foxes are a common sight in the corner of North London where I live, and to me, a welcome reminder of the natural world in an urban area. I imagined this fox outside a local iconic building, the 1930's Art Deco Hornsey Town Hall. The clean, simple, lines of the building make a good lino print. I chose the colours because of their richness and because they make a great blend (and I heard today that purple is the new trend for Christmas interiors - I didn't know this at the time!)
