I had been making bowls with swirly edges and someone I know suggested I try making yarn bowls as they are very popular and useful. The design of the part that keeps the piece of wool in place, came about by accident. Someone had commissioned me to make a bowl with a spiral. It proved to be quite a challenge to cut the design out and part of it kept breaking off. I got the idea for the design on this bowl from the shape that was left without the missing piece!
